WIP Arctic Char carving 2

I should have more done by now but that darn March Madness is slowing me down. :-)
Most of it's to shape and smoothed out except for the tail. Need to finish up the jaw and put detail in the head. The fins are cut out but not shaped at all yet. It's getting there. Next time I update it should be ready for paint.

WIP Arctic Char carving

I'm starting on an Arctic Char 1/2 carving. It's actually about 5/8th, the fins stand out nicer just a bit away from the board behind it.
It's being carved from basswood and about 15" long. It's very rough right now but hopefully I can get it to shape and fins on it this weekend. This was enough for tonight.

It was nice to see a picture of one of my paintings nicely framed and displayed. Thank you for the picture Dane. Check out his blog at The Dusty Fly.

Work in progress
Here is my progression on a Smallmouth Bass painting I started this evening. Got quite a ways but quit now that I'm getting a little tired. The room at the bottom is for some flies that I have sketched on there, you can kind of see some of the pencil marks. Not sure how it will work out but wanted to do something different.
